Breaking Dawn

So we went to see Breaking Dawn, and I didn't like it.  I knew I wasn't going to like it because I don't like the storyline.  I didn't like the book.  The movie had a lot of inappropriate stuff and gore, so I don't even want to see the movie ever again.  I guess I kind of feel like I am over Twilight.  Maybe we are growing up.  (:  I'm glad we didn't bother with the midnight showing--we just got together on Saturday morning and saw the movie and then went out to breakfast.  It was fun hanging out with the girls, but I give the movie a big thumbs down!  Not that anyone cares, but there it is anyway.  (:

Edward is not my type.

OK, brace yourself for ANOTHER post about Twilight nonsense.  I know it's ridiculous, but I can't help it--Twilight has been my escape from reality this summer.  I've seen Eclipse four times now (but I've resolved to stay away from it now until it hits the dollar theater), I've read the book Eclipse again, and Breaking Dawn again.  And, the thing I've discovered is that Edward is not my type.  The first time I read the books, I remember talking to friends about how I wanted Bella to choose Jacob, and everyone I talked to thought I was crazy.  Everyone said Bella belongs with Edward.  After reading the books again, I realized that I just really like Jacob better than Edward.  I dated a couple of Edward-types (minus the perfect face and chiseled physique), and let's face it--Edward is boring.  Ever-devoted, totally predictable, gushing romance...blech.  Too perfect.  Jacob is funny, unpredictable, spontaneous, and fun.  His temper is refreshingly human(ish), and his devotion is real, but not smothering, stalker-like, and controlling.  The guys I dated that were all gushy, romantic, predictable, and fawning were not for me.  I prefer a guy who makes me laugh every day, and who keeps life fresh and unpredictable.   So I realized that I married a Jacob-type.  Yes, Chuck is my Jacob.  So Bella, you can keep your Edward.  And Renesmee, I wouldn't even swap you for Jacob.   Because Chuck is exactly my type.  And, lucky for me, he's mine!  So even when I step out of fictional la-la land, I can still have my own personal happily ever after.  :)

Eclipse Madness

Eclipse, baby.  It's...Eclipse!!  So you all probably know by now that I am a Twilight fan.  So when the movies come out, I am the first in line...the morning after the midnight premiere.  I need my sleep, people.  But then Eclipse came out in the middle of summer.  No school for me (well, I am taking an online class that I should be studying for right now--my final exam awaits), no school for my kiddos, nothing to get up for in the morning.  So I decided to brave the midnight madness.  And not just the midnight premiere of Eclipse, but the Twilight Trilogy Marathon Movie Madness Experience!!!  I'm so thankful for my crazy, die-hard fan friends.  Chuck thinks I am an obsessed fan, but my friends make me feel oh-so-normal.  :)  We have so much fun together.  So, I bought the trilogy tickets when they went on sale a month ago, and then I totally wanted to back out.  Waiting in line all day, spending all night at the theater (Twilight started at 7pm, New Moon at 9:30, and then Eclipse at midnight), and losing out on sleep just didn't seem worth it.  But, guess what?  It totally was!
Ashley got in line at 7:15 am for us.  What a girl!!  I took a morning shift waiting in line with her from 9-11am.  Went home, spent some quality time with the kiddos (took them to Chuck E Cheese because I felt guilty for being gone most of the day/night), and then was back at the theater by 3:00pm.  Above: here we are all fresh and ready for the experience: Colleen, Lani, and me.
Saving seats once we got in the theater was kind of stressful.  Those fans were not happy about the seat saving, and the managers were interrogating people about every empty seat--YIKES!  Luckily we were able to hold on to most of ours, so everyone's friends/family that were joining our group later got a really good seat.  Above: Lynae, Jill, Lani, Tera, Me and Colleen after Twilight.
OK, so why would I pay $20 to see all three movies in one night?  Especially when I own Twilight and New Moon and have watched them both more times than I would like to admit?  Well, it is more fun to see them on the big screen.  Plus, it was fun to see the progression of the movies.  They increase in quality as they go.  And it was fun to go from the end of New Moon--the proposal moment--right into the start of Eclipse and the continuation of the saga.  And the fans at this trilogy experience were phenomenal!  It was SO fun to watch the movies with other avid fans who were screaming, cheering, and laughing along with us.  The atmosphere was THE BEST!  You don't get that at the morning after show.
Here we are at the end of New Moon--almost midnight!!  Can you tell I'm tired?  OK, so about Eclipse.... I LOVED it.  I was looking forward to it so much because I have always been Team Jacob, and I was happy that in this book/movie, he finally gets his chance to really try to steal Bella's heart.  But a crazy thing happened.  For the first time, I felt the Bella/Edward love and I realized that Jacob is going to imprint on someone other than Bella, so they can't be right for each other (YES, I KNOW THESE ARE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS!!).  So I am officially switching over to team Edward (although I am NOT a Rob Pattinson fan, and I am still a loyal Taylor Lautner fan).  Eclipse was so great, because for the first time, I felt a real emotional connection to the characters, and could feel their connection to each other.  Edward & Bella's relationship seemed real and meaningful for the first time to me.  And I loved the moments where Bella had to confront the reality of the life she is choosing to give up (saying goodbye to her mother, graduation day, etc).  I thought it was BY FAR the best movie in the series (so far).  I loved Eclipse.  I can't wait to see it again!

Rejected New Moon Script

My friend Tamara shared this New Moon rejected script with me, and I loved it.  Here's the link.  Check it out:
http://www.ericdsnider.com/snide/my-rejected-new-moon-screenplay/

Here's a snippet of two of my favorite parts:

JACOB: Bella! You crashed! Are you OK? Here, let me take off my shirt and leave it off for the remainder of the film.
BELLA: I approve of this.
JACOB: Sorry I've been acting a little weird lately. The other guys in my pack -- I mean tribe -- have been hounding me -- I mean bugging me -- to join them. Here come some of them now!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ALICE: There's Edward! He's standing in the doorway of that church, revealing himself to the crowd!
BELLA: Edward! Stop! Put your shirt back on!
EDWARD: You don't want people to know I'm a vampire?
BELLA: No, it's just that after spending so much time with Jacob I'm embarrassed for you.
Twihards
Am I fanatical when it comes to Twilight?  Maybe a little.  I think I've mentioned before that I LOVE the book "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer.  I can't say that I love the Twilight movie, but sadly, I've watched it many, many times anyway.  So when my friend, Colleen, got the Twilight Scene It DVD game for Christmas, I was super excited to get some girls together to play the game!  We had an Italian themed dinner and then played a couple of rounds of Twilight Scene It, and it was SO fun!  Colleen is my Twihard buddy, who tolerates my crazy obsession, comes with me to the movies, and allows me to throw Twilight parties at her house (because she has an awesome TV and I don't).
The game is a board game, with cards that have questions about the movie, as well as DVD clips that have questions too.  By the end of the game, I realized it is RIDICULOUS how much I know about Twilight.  I missed a few questions here and there, but I got way too many right.  (Team Jacob won!)  Below are: Rebecca, Lani (who knows as much as I do about Twilight--possibly more, so she makes me feel better), Colleen, Tera, Cheryl, Stacy, and me.
Cheryl  made this awesome Twilight cake!  Edward actually has sparkles on him (and chest hair)!  :)
I had so much fun hanging out with the girls, eating stuffed shells, garlic bread, and Twilight cake, playing the Twilight game, and then of course we had to watch the Twilight movie.  I guess we really are Twihards.
Twilight Party
I really LOVE the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It is one of my all time favorite books. I don't know why, but I just really, really love it. So I couldn't help but like the Twilight Movie too. I know it is not even one-tenth as good as the book, but I still really enjoy it. I saw the movie four times in the theater, and I was still excited for it to come out on DVD. Saturday was the big day, and of course we had to have a party to celebrate the occasion, and watch the movie together. It was so fun to giggle with the girls, compare notes on our favorite scenes, and share our gripes too (I am still bugged by Kristen Stewart's lack of emotion throughout the film.) Colleen was so nice to host the party, and we all enjoyed her big, beautiful TV. I made my special vampire "blood filled" cupcakes. Here's Tamra, Colleen, and I. We saw the movie together in the theater for the first time too (with Lani). I love my Twilight friends!!!! We had 2 Taras and 3 Stacys at the party. Kinda crazy, huh? Only one Cherene though (imagine that!) Here are Tara M, Tera K, me, Tamara, and April. Colleen made some red punch that we sipped through straws from styrofoam cups (you have to read Breaking Dawn to appreciate that).
Here are Stacie H, Lani, Tera K, and Stacy R. Lani and Tera have cool Twilight shirts on. See, Chuck, I'm not obsessed because I don't own a Twilight shirt (yet). :)
I really do love my Twilight friends!!! You can bet we'll be doing this again for New Moon...then Eclipse.......
