Planting new trees

Some of our bushes died in the winter frost, so our front yard was looking pretty bare.  Our HOA noticed, and left us a nasty gram, telling us that we needed to plant a new tree and some new bushes.  Charlie and I went to Home Depot over Spring Break, and bought some greenery.  With Charlie and Cade's help, I planted a pomegranate tree and three new little bushes.  March 2014

Redecorating Cheyanna's Room

Over Spring Break, we decided to redecorate Cheyanna's room.  I painted it pink and yellow when I was pregnant with her, and it hadn't changed much since then.  Cheyanna picked out the color she wanted to paint it, and the new bedspread she wanted.  She also picked out some decorations at Hobby Lobby--like the sparkly pink letters on her wall that spell out her name.  We had a fun time working together, and it turned out pretty cute! Here's a cute pic of Cade sleeping in Cheyanna's bed one night when Granny was visiting and sleeping in his room.

Cade Turns 12

Cade's 12th birthday was on a Sunday, which was perfect because he was able to be ordained to the priesthood on his actual birthday!  Granny, Granddad and Sandra all came for the special occasion.  After church, we had BBQ chicken pizza--Cade's favorite meal.  It was a really special day.

Cade's Birthday Party

Cade had a few of his friends from Noah Webster over for his Birthday party this year.  The boys played outside for a while, then played games, ate pizza, and had cake and ice cream.  Happy 12th Birthday, Cade!

Charlie turns 17

I didn't get many pictures of Charlie's 17th Birthday.  He and I went shopping for a memory foam pillow for his Birthday gift.  Then we went to Joe's Farm Fresh grill for his Birthday meal.  We met Chuck there for an early dinner.  After we came home and he opened his card (including this juvenile-looking card from Grandpa Ed), we ate Carvel cake and then went out to Firehouse Subs for him to get his free Sub.  Happy 17th, Charlie!

Cheyanna Field Trip

In Feb, I chaperoned Cheyanna's class field trip to Goldfield Mining Town.  It was a warm day, but the kids had a fun time.  Here are some pictures of Cheyanna and her friend, Addison, who was in our group.

Haircut

In February, I got 7 inches of hair chopped off!  It was just really, really long and I needed a change.  I thought it was quite a big change, but I guess when you're going from really long to medium long, it's not that noticeable.  My kids didn't even notice.  :)

Basketball Awards Banquet

Charlie had a great basketball season, and ended up being #1 in blocks in the state of Arizona!  He made the 2nd team All City, honorable mention for All State, and honorable mention for All Section by the AZ Republic.  Feb 2014

Chuck's Birthday

Chuck's new hobby is Disc Golf.  He and his friend, Jefferson, play all the time!  For his Birthday, Chuck got a Disc Golf basket so he can practice his putting.  He goes down to the grassy area by our house to throw discs.  On his birthday, I went with him and watched him while he disc golfed.  Chuck is a pretty athletic guy, so he picks up sports fairly quickly and is improving his game all the time.  Happy 42nd Birthday, Chuck!

Science Fair

February is dreaded Science Fair time.  This year, Cade and Cheyanna both had to do a science project.  Cade's project was "Does the Amount of Coins effect the Voltage in a Coin Battery?"  Cheyanna's project was "Do People Remember Things Better Seeing or Hearing Them?"

January-February basketball games

January is a blur of Charlie's basketball games.  He has games two to three nights a week.  The Varsity games all start at 7pm.  The other kids get really tired of watching the games, so most nights the younger three kids stay home while Chuck and I go to the games.  We love watching Charlie play.  The season goes a little into the month of February.  This is Charlie's Junior year, and he is a starter on Varsity.  He's by far the tallest player on the team.  He loves basketball, and he is good at it.  He had three triple doubles this season (in points, rebounds, and blocks)!!
