Last Monday was Martin Luther King Day, so Chuck had the day off work, and the kids all had the day off school. We decided to take the kids roller skating, since they were offering free admission before 10am, and most of our kids had only been roller skating once before. Charlie opted not to skate since the last time he tried, he fell hard and hurt his arm. He brought his "Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites" book, and actually finished it while we skated.
Cade loved skating, and he tried really hard to get the hang of it. Most of the time, he skated with Chuck because on his own, he fell quite a bit. I am not the best skater myself, so I don't think he felt very secure skating with me. :) By the end Cade was skating by himself with only a few falls here and there. He was a trooper! Here he is skating by his Dad.

We ran into Chuck's friend, Joey's two sisters, Kathy and Jackie. Jackie and I have started carpooling picking our kids up from school, and it has been so great not to have to pick up the kids every day.
Cheyanna was done skating pretty soon after she started. Carson tried hard, but never got really comfortable out there. :) After skating, we stopped by Culver's for some treats. They have the best ice cream and shakes.
Cade got a banana split, and even though it was HUGE, he managed to eat the whole thing!

The ice cream was great, even though it was a cold and rainy day! That night, we went to a BBQ at my friend Amy's house (from my MC program). I forgot my camera, but it was fun to meet her hubby and kids, and hang out outside of school. Overall it was really fun day.

I LOVE days like that! Don't you just feel like "Super Parents" when you get to spend a few hours with everyone doing something a little unique? Yeah, not everyone will have lots of fun - but it sure looks like a great time. Plus, maybe you can make it a tradition on MLK day?
